Our advice and responses

⚙️ WHAT IS THE LEGAL STRUCTURE?

A Swiss work contract between Helvetic Payroll and the “hired” salaried employee has been established. This work contract has the terms and conditions stated by the client and/or agency with whom you are in contact. Helvetic Payroll then issues a services contract with the final client based in Switzerland to establish the invoice. If an agency is present in the business process, the agency will invoice Helvetic Payroll for its fees.

🪪 I AM NOT SWISS OR A EUROPEAN CITIZEN, HOW WILL MY WORK PERMIT BE MANAGED?

It is extremely difficult for non-Europeans to obtain a work permit. In most cases, only the final company with which you will be directly employed will be able to make this request.

🔎 WHO LOOKS FOR THE ASSIGNMENTS?

To this day, Helvetic Payroll does not recruit (or source) and therefore, cannot support you in the search for your assignment. Thus, you will have to look for the assignments and clients yourself to benefit from our services.

HOW DOES THE FINANCIAL PROCESS HAPPEN?

When we receive your monthly timesheet signed by the client, we send our invoice to the client. We then calculate your salary and publish a pay slip. Finally, we pay your salary when we receive the payment from the client or in advance using the Cash Box.

The Swiss tax system is first and foremost cantonal. Therefore, your taxes will depend on your personal situation (married, spouse is working in Switzerland, children etc.) and your place of residence. In accordance with this criteria, you will have a complete simulation based on your situation.

👨‍💻 AND MY PENSION?

The Swiss pension system involves 3 “pillars”: The 1st pillar (AVS) is compulsory and is directly deducted from your pay slip. The 2nd pillar (LPP) is compulsory and is directly deducted from your pay slip. The money is available upon retirement or during your departure from Switzerland (EU excluded). You can also have access to this fund if you create a business or buy your principle residence. Complementary contributions, such as the 3rd pillar, will allow you to benefit from tax advantages. The 3rd pillar is optional, available with banks or insurance companies. This pillar lets you benefit from tax advantages.

🚑 HOW DOES HEALTH INSURANCE WORK?

Health insurance for medical expenses is required by Swiss law. This private insurance, which must be taken out within the 3 months following your arrival into the country, depends on the responsibility of the salaried employee. The amount varies according to the level of cover you desire.

📋 WHAT MUST I DO TO BE REGISTERED UPON MY ARRIVAL IN SWITZERLAND?

Non-Swiss citizens must be registered within 8 days before their arrival into Switzerland. Helvetic Payroll will conduct this procedure and guide you during this process which can be different from one canton to another.
